                                                                                                       Mission Statement:

The Monadnock Community Early Learning Center is an early learning and childcare program seeking to enroll students from 6 weeks through the 2nd grade.  MCELC promotes a shared partnership with families, the community, businesses and local agencies, so all become active in the lives of children in our care. This partnership provides certain influences that will create within the child a strong foundation of security, self-confidence, and individual worth.  Most importantly it secures a lifelong feeling of belonging and acceptance for all.  MCELC welcomes a diverse student body from all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds with a wide variety of academic abilities and potential.  MCELC considers the education of a child the combined responsibility of the Center, the families and the children.

 

                                                                                                           Philosophy:

MCELC strives to provide an environment in which children can experience the excitement, the wonder and the joy of growing up. Every child is treated with respect and kindness and his/her uniqueness and individuality are both honored and celebrated.  Children learn through play and real life experiences. Our teachers provide developmentally appropriate experiences, which focus on the whole child: physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development.

 

Rather than simply talking to the children about concepts, our teachers provide the children with opportunities to learn through manipulation of real materials, spending time in nature, hands-on experiences, visits from community members, reading stories, and singing songs.

 

Our main objective of MCELC is to provide a safe and stimulating environment that will help children develop within themselves the foundation of positive habits, attitudes, skills and ideas which are essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning.

 

The specific goals for the children who attend MCELC are:

• To develop a positive attitude toward school and learning

• To develop self-esteem

• To support creativity and imagination

• To develop and foster an active curiosity

• To encourage the importance of playing in nature

• To develop habits of initiative and persistence

• To foster inner discipline and a sense of order

• To develop sensory motor skill in order to sharpen the ability to discriminate and judge

• To develop socially acceptable behavior

• To promote healthy lifestyles and physical activity
